It’s not every day you turn 120 years old. Milwaukee-born Harley-Davidson celebrates in style with a music festival and special editions of the most emblematic bikes and other novelties for fans.
They are the new 120th Anniversary of Harley-Davidson, a special range of limited edition motorcycles with special paints, schemes and details by Harley’s chief stylist, Brad Richards. There are models that are technically the same as the series, but in their top of the range versions, and others that are reborn in this 2023.
Harley-Davidson Homecoming™ Festival
In its native Milwaukee, Harley-Davidson celebrates its 120th anniversary with the Homecoming festival July 13-16. The 4-day festival will feature live performances headlined by Green Day and Foo Fighters, a motorcycle parade and more. Live coverage of the event can be seen on the official YouTube channel.
More models, more technology
The presentation of the first series of new Harley models was marked by the CVO Road Glide Limited Anniversary and six other limited edition motorcycles. They also announced a revamped Harley-Davidson Breakout with cruise control, a new Nightster Special and a Freewheeler trike with new looks.
Despite seeking a 100% electric future, Harley-Davidson’s president wanted to make an ode to the past and forget about plug-in models. “Since 1903, Harley-Davidson has been a pioneer in American motorcycle design, technology and performance, and today marks the beginning of a year-long celebration of the company’s 120th anniversary,” he says, not forgetting “Harley’s history, culture and community.”
CVO Road Glide Limited Anniversary
Among the special editions the CVO Road Glide Limited Anniversary is the ‘special one’ to which Harley has given more prominence. It has been used to showcase one of the most complex paint schemes ever done by the Milwuakee brand. The ‘Heirloom Red’ color is layered over the ‘Anniversary Black’ base, each outlined with a bright red stripe and hand-crafted gold accents. The set depicts an eagle in flight.
Other details include seats upholstered in Alcantara with gold and red stitching, gold inserts on the engine and bright red on the rocker covers and pipe collars on the pushrods.
The result is a CVO Road Glide with a production limited to 1,500 bikes and with a price of (gasp) 68,500 euros. The same treatment will be applied to other models of which we know their production but not the price:They have presented it on the CVO Road Glide, but it will also be available on six other models:
- Ultra Limited Anniversary: 1.300 motos
- Tri Glide Ultra Anniversary: 1.100 motos
- Street Glide Special Anniversary: 1.600 motos
- Road Glide Special Anniversary: 1.600 motos
- Fat Boy 114 Anniversary: 3.000 motos
- Heritage Classic 114 Anniversary: 1.700 motos
Harley-Davidson Nightster Special
A new mid-displacement Nightster model is born. The most racing of the family remains an entry-level model powered by the new heart that debuted in 2022: the 975 cc liquid-cooled 60-degree V-Twin capable of developing a maximum power of 90 hp at 7,500 rpm and a torque of 95 Nm at 5,000 rpm.
Improvements come in styling, comfort and technology. It offers a new raised and set-back handlebar that provides a more ergonomic ride for longer trips, a separate seat and footrest for the passenger; tire pressure monitoring system and ABS, traction control and engine braking as standard.
Harley-Davidson Trike Freewheeler
The Trike inspired by the Cruiser family now arrives sporting black color throughout the bike. The front end, headlight housing, tank console, hand and foot controls, engine and exhaust are finished in black to replace the previous gloss finishes.
It also comes with new aluminum die-cast wheels in gloss black (18″ rear instead of 15″) with exposed rear wheel nuts.
