Soul wins BAFTA award for best animated film

Soul took home BAFTA awards for both Animated Film and Original Score.

Over the course of two virtual ceremonies held this weekend, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts unveiled its winners for the 2021 EE British Academy Film Awards.

It should be recalled that Soul premiered at the London Film Festival on October 11, 2020. And although it was scheduled to be released in theaters on November 20, 2020 in the United States it was cancelled in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the film will be released streaming on Disney+ on December 25, 2020.

Making it the first Pixar feature film not to be released theatrically and the first to be announced as a Disney+ original. The film received very positive reviews, with praise for its animation, story, voice acting and score.

In addition to the BAFTAs, the film also won Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score/Music at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards (including the Critics’ Choice Super Awards).

With this award the animated film released at Disney + Directed by Pete Docter and co-directed by Kemp Powers, the film stars the voices of Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey part as a favorite to also win the Oscar at the ceremony to be held next April 25.
