Since 2014, BARCÚ Nights have been the stage for more than 100 bands. It has also been a starting point for the international projection of many of them that have reached such important events as the Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom. “In this 2020, a year in a context as particular as the one we are living, we had with Noches BARCÚ the challenge of reinventing ourselves without ceasing to be the platform of Colombian music that we have been,” says María Teresa Rojas, Executive Director of BARCÚ.
The result is a 2.0 format: BARCÚ Sessions. Two daily presentations of musicians and bands in streaming in an intimate, unplugged and interactive mode that will be seen, completely free, through the YouTube channel of BARCÚ and Barcu.com, and that will feature national soloists and bands of different genres such as Pedrina, Julio Victoria, Amantina, Miguel Rico, Duplat, El Sonar de Telembí, Todo Copas. Mr. Pablo, Papa Kumbé and Tribu Baharú.
“The objective of the BARCÚ Sessions is to show the musicians to their audience in their pure state: in a rehearsal, in a recording in their studio, without the artifices of lights and big scenery, and without the distance in front of the audience that exists in a concert”, explains Santiago Muñoz, Musical Coordinator and the person who has been in charge of this project since May, supervising the thousand and one details of the staging of the BARCÚ Sessions. Before assuming this task, Santiago was part of Fonseca’s team and since 2005 he has lived in New York where he works in event management and production.
Another attraction will be the BARCÚ Conversations: meetings and talks between journalists with national and foreign figures of the music scene such as Fonseca, Esteman, Superlitio, Electric Diamond, Distrito Especial, Mitú, Caloncho, Visitante (Eduardo Cabra from Calle 13), Amigos Invisibles and Tweety González.
